Facial Enhancement Acupuncture

What is facial enhancement acupuncture?

Facial enhancement acupuncture, also known as facial rejuvenation or cosmetic acupuncture, is a non-surgical procedure and is offered as an alternative to Botox, fillers, surgery and chemical treatments.

This treatment can help reduce the appearance of lines, wrinkles, puffiness, scars and acne. It is also effective for sagging skin and improves facial tone.

It leaves the skin feeling firmer and notable effects can be seen after the course of treatments that are recommended.

Facial enhancement acupuncture can also increase collagen and elastin production, this then smooths out lines and firms the skin. It also encourages blood flow to face which enhances the skin and improves muscle tone.

This is a sought after treatment used in over 40 countries and should only be carried out by a qualified acupuncturist.

What to expect at your treatment?

A full medical history will be asked at your first appointment, which is the same protocol for normal acupuncture.

As acupuncture treats the body as a whole and rebalances any imbalances, other acupuncture points may be used on the arms or legs to help improve overall health, which in turn, will help improve the appearance of your skin. We will then discuss areas of your face that you would like to improve.

Following this you will be asked to lay on the treatment bed and the relaxation part begins.
Your facial enhancement acupuncture treatment will begin with your face being cleansed and any make up removed.

Then specific acupuncture points on the face are used by inserting very small hair thin acupuncture needles. The majority of people do not feel them being placed in to the skin, they find it a relaxing restorative experience. However, if you have concerns about this, a numbing cream can be applied before any needles are inserted. Following this, intradermal needles are then placed on any lines or areas that you have concerns. The amount of intradermal needles used will vary from person to person. Needle retention time is between 20-25 minutes, by this time you should be feeling very relaxed and may even fall asleep.

Facial Acupuncture

After the removal of the needles, traditional techniques will be applied, This will consist of a jade roller or gua sha stone to the face which will compliment your treatment. Following this a moisturiser and serum will be applied to your skin.

After your first treatment or second treatment people notice an improvement and the skin feels tighter. It is advised not to apply any make up or products until the following day.

Slight bruising can sometimes occur around the site of where the needles were placed, however the bruising is normally mild and heals quickly.

Facial enhancement acupuncture is not suitable for people who suffer with the following conditions: High blood pressure which is not controlled, diabetes, chronic migraines, cancer, pregnant women, excessive bleeding or bruising.
